Project overview
Citrea Network is a project aiming to enhance the capabilities of the Bitcoin blockchain through the use of zero-knowledge (ZK) technology. Here’s a breakdown of what we know about Citrea:
- Focus: ZK rollup solution for the Bitcoin network.
- Goal: Increase scalability, transaction efficiency, and functionality on Bitcoin without compromising security or decentralization.
- Benefits:
- Enables development of complex applications on Bitcoin.
- Reduces transaction fees on the Bitcoin network.
- Improves transaction processing speed.
- Maintains the security and trust associated with Bitcoin.
- Technical details:
- Citrea utilizes zkEVM, a variant of ZK technology compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). This allows developers familiar with the EVM ecosystem to easily build applications on Citrea.
- It leverages a “trust-minimized two-way peg program” called Clementine. This ensures data availability and settlement for transactions on the Citrea network ultimately occur on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Additional Information:
- While Citrea is a relatively new project, it has gained traction for its innovative approach to scaling Bitcoin.
- There’s limited information publicly available about the full functionalities and roadmap of Citrea. Further details might be found on their official resources like website (https://bitcoinmagazine.com/business/citrea-launches-first-zk-rollup-on-bitcoin-enhancing-blockspace-capabilities) or through their social media channels.
